Rollei Rock Solid Video Head
Modern digital SLRs or mirrorless cameras are now often used for capturing video – even by seasoned video pros – since these cameras can offer high-resolution, smooth video capture in HD or 4K as standard. As a nature or travel photographer, you also need to keep your equipment options open. Yet conventional tripod heads offer only limited use for soft pans and pin-sharp stationary shots, including zooms. Here, both vertical and horizontal motion needs to be continuously variable, shake-free and offer little resistance to the user. This is why Rollei developed the Rock Solid Video Head. Combined with the rugged and amazingly stable Rock Solid tripods, this now lets you shoot professional video with DSLRs or video camcorders.
Lightweight, easy to adjust and silky-smooth panning
The aluminium construction of the Rollei Rock Solid Video Head keeps weights down when being lugged around while enabling precise configuration of pan resistance and the desired angle of tilt. The video head can of course be rotated a full 360°, while an extra-long quick-release plate not only takes cameras but also safely holds semi-pro camcorders up to 3 kg while leaving enough space for other accessories that need to be panned along with the rest of your gear.
Long pan bar, simple to use
With a long enough lever, Archimedes could have moved the Earth… and a comfortably long pan bar is a real help when you need to move heavy lenses around. The less force you need to exert, the softer the motion that you can achieve. The handle area is foam-padded to give a comfortable grip, so prolonged shooting doesn’t end up causing problems with your arm and shoulder muscles. The pan bar is also locked separately, which makes repetitive adjusting and fixing operations a lot easier.
