Rollei Rock Solid Carbon Alpha tripod
Professional tripods for pro photographers must offer rock-solid stability whatever the weather, whatever the subject and whatever the condition of the ground. Rollei has developed the Rock Solid Carbon range of pro tripods to meet these exacting requirements. Rock solid by name, rock solid by nature: these ultra-stable tripods can be relied on for even the most demanding landscape or nature photography projects.
Rock-solid stability for surf and sand
The Rock Solid Carbon Alpha tripod is the all-rounder in the Rock Solid range. The ruggedized legs of this tripod are made from 100% carbon fibre and are still an inch in diameter even when extended to the fourth leg segment. Included with the tripod are solid spikes to keep the tripod stable in terrain, on rocky ground or asphalt and on other surfaces. Three ground discs for the tripod legs extend the use of the Rollei travel tripod to pretty much any corner of the Earth where sand and shingle are found in abundance.
Able to take an almost unimaginable maximum load of 24 kg, the Rock Solid Carbon Alpha can handle any set of professional photo equipment. The long focal lengths found on super-telephoto lenses are extremely sensitive to even the smallest of shocks. The eight carbon fibre layers in the tripod tubes utilize a cross-weave structure to provide the necessary vibration damping here. Since experienced pro photographers often use a tripod head that is carefully matched to their housing, Rollei decided to equip the Rock Solid Carbon tripods with a sturdy mounting plate that features standardized 3/8-inch and 1/4-inch tripod screw mounts.
If you don’t yet have a suitable tripod head, why not try out Rollei’s Panorama T-7s ball head? This tripod head fits all three models in the Rock Solid Carbon range.
As with the other two tripods in Rollei’s Rock Solid Carbon range of tripods, the Alpha is not only ultra-stable but also unaffected by either sand or salt water. If you need to take long-exposure or time-lapse shots in beach or coastline conditions, all you need is a suitable underwater housing for your high-end SLR camera and the ground discs supplied with the Alpha.
